The best part was the outdoor space, with a small playground for the kids and a pool to cool off in on hot days. Parking inside is limited, and if you park behind another car you can leave your keys so the owner can move it. Our room was roomy, the bed was huge, and the bathroom was decent. The AC and TV both worked well. The house is nicely decorated in what seems like the owner's style, and it's about 10-15 minutes by car from Coimbra city center. We were on the second floor, so there are at least two flights of stairs to consider if mobility is an issue. Cleaning was a real problem. I left my keys as requested, but the room wasn't cleaned, so I did it myself. It only got a proper cleaning on my third day. The same happened in my mother's room. I also didn't feel very welcome by the owners. They were available, but came across as unfriendly and, to me, possibly racist on three separate occasions, involving both the owner and his wife. It wasn't just a one-off. I saw them act differently with other people, so you may want to try the place and form your own impression, but my stay didn't feel welcoming.

The beds were really comfortable, and the air conditioning worked great. We could cook there too. The host was warm and welcoming, and the service was better than we'd expected. We had one of our best stays in this guest house and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

The pool was open while someone worked right beside it with electric tools, including a strimmer and an extension lead across the lawn. The diving board was loose on one side. There were also sharp broken tiles in the bathroom and black mould on the bedroom walls, visible in the last photos. The owner has ignored the mould and blamed guests for problems. We booked this place because it was out of town. After giving notice that we were checking out, the owner still wouldn't release the room for sale or refund us, so we're having to pursue a credit card chargeback. That leaves booking somewhere else at our own expense. The photos speak for themselves. Don't stay here, there are plenty of better options. This man is a charlatan who makes things up to suit himself.

The host was genuinely friendly and good to us, and the mattress and pillows were good. The kitchen wasn't well equipped, and the shower, bath and spa water was kind of cold, so I didn't enjoy that. The place seems okay but needs proper maintenance. I'm sure the hotel is worth millions, but honestly I'd rather have slept in my camper. Sorry. A few small changes could make a huge difference.
