Palácio São Silvestre - Boutique Hotel

There's a tennis court, nice gardens, and a pool, though the water was very cold at the end of September. The sauna and steam bath take 40 minutes to heat up, which disappointed us since we hadn't asked staff about it beforehand. They made sure the spa was warm the next day, though, so that worked out. The breakfast buffet was quite average. The hotel itself is nice and clean, with a vintage feel, a renovated building, and pleasant rooms equipped with an iron and safe.

At breakfast, there was no oatmeal, just cheap muesli that costs 1 euro. My wife needs oatmeal while breastfeeding, and we hadn't expected it to be such a problem. With so many families with children staying there, it seems like something you'd have. Neither of us was able to have a proper breakfast, and we were left hungry. When we arrived, the manager first showed us a worse room that smelled of cigarettes, even though we had a small child with us. Asked whether there was a better room, he said the only option was a more expensive premium room with a jacuzzi. But our booking showed another room overlooking the pool. He didn't mention it until we showed him that it was available, and then he agreed to give it to us. It felt like he either didn't want to sell us the better room or wanted to hold onto it. It was horrible.

The restaurant serves tasty meals in big portions, and the price feels worth it. The place is clean and quiet, with soundproofing and private parking. It's a beautiful village, the staff are wonderful, and the location is perfect for a peaceful stay. I'll definitely come back and recommend it wholeheartedly.

The rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are large, and the place is pretty quiet. There's parking, and the staff are polite. The hotel itself is excellent. The restaurant, though, is pretty bad for the price. It seems to get by because it's the only half-decent one in town, but the quality is lacking. I had the worst bacalhau I've ever eaten in Portugal, and the portion was laughable.
