Serenata Hostel

My bag went missing from the hostel’s designated storage area during my stay at Serenata Hostel Coimbra. I told the staff right away, but I didn’t see a serious effort to help or investigate. I expected them to check the storage space, lost property areas, housekeeping, or follow up internally, but that didn’t seem to happen. I also filed a police report. The way my complaint was dealt with afterward made things worse. I reported the matter in good faith through the official Portuguese Livro de Reclamações, and felt intimidated when legal threats followed instead of a focus on customer service and resolving the issue. I understand a hostel can’t always prevent every incident, but guests should be treated professionally and respectfully and receive support when belongings go missing from a designated storage area. The experience caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience during my trip. I hope Hostelworld reviews how this property handles storage security, lost property, and complaints.

There’s no elevator, and getting here can be tricky if you have a big car. The TV and plugs didn’t work, but we still paid full price. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. It’s not terrible, and it works if you just need somewhere to sleep for a couple of nights. Don’t expect any extras.

The beds were comfortable, and it stayed dark and very quiet at night. Good showers, too. The young guy at reception was professional and super helpful. I’ll come back.

The hotel is good, and you get what you pay for. Just know the streets are extremely narrow, so if you can, park outside and walk over. There’s also no restroom in the room.
