Hotel Jardim

A comfortable place with some character, lovely staff, and a nice breakfast. I enjoyed my last-minute one-night stay.

We had a small room at the back, but it was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the room was clean, tidy, and safe. This is a great budget hotel, though an old one. Service was well organized and very helpful. The shower had strong pressure, but the hot water was a bit unpredictable. It's a short, easy walk into town and to restaurants, or you can go up through the Botanical gardens to the University. There are gardens across the road along the river for walks. We stayed a couple of nights and it was fine.

I found nearby paid parking on a quiet back street fairly easily with my rental car, though not having hotel parking had made me anxious before arriving. The room was just the right size for me and super clean, and the location and price couldn't be beat. Check-in took a while because a large group arrived ahead of me and there was only one person working. My main complaint is the thin walls: talkative neighbors kept me up late, then other guests rolling their bags woke me early.

The staff are lovely and very helpful, and the location is good. But the hotel is very dated. Our room was small, barely big enough for the bed, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. The fluffy pillows didn't give much support, and the door wouldn't shut properly. It's on a busy main road, with noise starting around 5 in the morning. The bathroom was awful and the shower felt dangerous. I can recommend this hotel.
