The location is a real plus: Coimbra A is about a two-minute walk away, with supermarkets, tourist sights, the river and the botanical garden all close by. The WiFi was great, and the bathroom, room, sheets and towels were kept clean, with regular changes and cleaning. It’s a cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for. The staircase is ridiculously long, and the older owner could be noisy at times. The kitchen looked so crowded I only went in once. When Hurricane Leslie came through, water dripped from the ceiling onto me at 2:30 am, so I moved to another room for the night. If you don’t speak Portuguese, communication can be difficult.

We paid about 12 euros each for a room meant for five, but there was barely space to move around. Its only window looked onto a laundry area, so people there could pretty much watch us while we slept.

My room was tidy and came with a balcony, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The place is right in the center, and the price was really reasonable.

I really wouldn't recommend this place. It was noisy, cold, and the room was dirty, like a germ's paradise. The price was far too high for a stay like that, and the woman in charge didn't know any English at all. Definitely not for me.
