Surfer's Den Ericeira

I’ve stayed at the Surfer's den twice now and had a great time both times. I’ve been to plenty of hostels, and this one was easily the nicest. We were there in the off season at the end of November, so we didn’t use many amenities like the boards or pool. The staff were hospitable and communicated directly, and the rooms were really nice. Each “house” had two full bathrooms for around three rooms. It’s well located for walking to the beach, town, and the bus station in Ericeira. My friends and I had a lovely stay, and I’d go back.

A lively, social spot where you keep meeting interesting people, though you can also do your own thing. It was great for my first solo trip. There’s plenty happening in Ericeira, and the beaches are lovely :)

The rental is really cheap, wetsuit and board for 24h =20€. The people were sweet and social, and the rooms and shared spaces were pretty clean. Great location too. Had a super lovely stay in the surfers den, can recommend!!

The staff were very kind and always ready to help, and the bathrooms were fortunately clean every time. The rest of our stay at Surfer's Den Ericeira was disappointing. Although the hostel is cleaned several times a day, some guests leave it dirty. The kitchen was constantly messy, with used, unwashed pots filling the sink and dirty bins overflowing. We booked a double room, but it was extremely dirty, with dust under the bed, on the nightstands, and along the baseboards. Noise from other travellers was the biggest problem at night: shouting and loud music went on until 3 a.m. This was the noisiest and dirtiest hostel we’ve visited in years. It’s a shame, since the staff are so kind and willing to improve things, but the clientele leaves much to be desired.
