Fatima and Sofia made us feel completely at home. Sofia was so welcoming and helpful. We stayed for my honeymoon and birthday, and loved it. We’d stay again whenever we’re in Portugal. I only wish we could afford to bring all nine of our children to meet them. X x

There’s a lovely old-world feel to this guest house, and the owner and staff were warm and accommodating. Parking felt safe and private, and it’s about a five-minute walk to the railway station and promenade. Just be aware there are lots of steps up to the house. A handrail would help anyone with mobility issues.

Sofia, the owner, made us feel very welcome. The bed was really comfortable, and the place has the feel of a family home that’s been turned into a B&B. I’d gladly recommend staying here.

I was in town for a conference and wished I’d had more time to enjoy being here. It felt like walking into someone’s beautiful home, but the room still had what I’d expect from a hotel, including a hairdryer and a modern bathroom. The kitchen was a real plus too, especially being able to get coffee outside breakfast hours. I’d come back. If you want somewhere with more charm than a standard hotel stay, Shanti Niketan is worth the trip.

A peaceful, lovely B&B, with lots of natural touches in the wood and green details.
