There’s a lovely old-world feel to this guest house, and the owner and staff were warm and accommodating. Parking felt safe and private, and it’s about a five-minute walk to the railway station and promenade. Just be aware there are lots of steps up to the house. A handrail would help anyone with mobility issues.

Sofia, the owner, made us feel very welcome. The bed was really comfortable, and the place has the feel of a family home that’s been turned into a B&B. I’d gladly recommend staying here.

I was in town for a conference and wished I’d had more time to enjoy being here. It felt like walking into someone’s beautiful home, but the room still had what I’d expect from a hotel, including a hairdryer and a modern bathroom. The kitchen was a real plus too, especially being able to get coffee outside breakfast hours. I’d come back. If you want somewhere with more charm than a standard hotel stay, Shanti Niketan is worth the trip.
