We booked five nights and left after two. The bedroom felt like a sauna, and the host never brought the basic fan promised at check-in. Check-in itself was ridiculous: after hours in the car, all we wanted was rest, but instead got a 45-minute lecture about rules, cracks on the stove, frogs in the pond and plants that would bloom in August. There was no air conditioning during the hot summer, the internet was slow, and taking the garbage out meant walking up a steep hill into town. Parking was a mile away. The host sent long, patronizing emails and texts and seemed to think he was doing us a favor by letting us pay to stay in his property while saving money on air conditioning in the name of ecology. My son and I were yelled at in the pool for leaving sunscreen streaks in the water, and photos were taken 🤣🤣🤣. Why go into hospitality if you hate people so much? Maybe pursue a writing career instead, since you clearly enjoy that more.

The apartment was very large, with a pool and most of the accessories we needed. The view was lovely, and it was a short walk to the grocery store. Facilities were really nice and staff were helpful, accommodating our needs. One staff member even suggested we grab something to eat before meeting her, although it was already quite late.

The people were one of a kind and always looked after us. It’s a beautiful, authentic place, put together with attention to every detail and a lot of love. The view is breathtaking, and it’s ideally located for exploring the whole island. Ponta do sol, Madalena, Jardim, Paulo, we’ll be back for sure!

The view is great, and the heated pool and supermarket just two minutes away make this a lovely place to stay. We’re back for a second visit, this time in the Big House after trying the Little Cottage. There are so many thoughtful details, and everything feels just right. We’re having a wonderful time and will definitely return :)
