The mattresses were old spring types and incredibly uncomfortable, while the furniture looked cheap and carelessly arranged. Lighting was poor too, with most bulbs either missing or not working. The Wi-Fi was so slow it was practically useless, and when I raised it, the owners didn't reply for five days. They eventually asked whether it had improved. It hadn't, and after I said so they went silent again. We were there for 12 days without a broom or vacuum, and got no answer when we asked for a cleaning tool or someone to clean. A barely working vacuum was left outside our door only two days before we left, so we couldn't properly clean for ten days. It felt like the expectation was that we'd do it ourselves. There wasn't even a microwave. The whole stay was a big letdown, and I'd strongly advise avoiding the place.

Neidy was quick to respond and really helpful, making sure we had what we needed. The houses are modern and well equipped, with a great pool and a wonderful ocean view in a quiet setting. We work remotely, so internet mattered a lot. It wasn't ideal, with downloads around 19 Mbps and uploads below 1 Mbps. A Vodafone unlimited data SIM was a workable alternative, at €30 per month or €15 for two weeks. We also liked how handy things were: the best local market is about a 10-minute drive away in Prazeres, Manifattura di gelato is under ten minutes away for mojitos, pizza, and homemade ice creams, and Pukiki is within walking distance for rum and cocktail fans.

A lovely spot to unwind.

Clean and basic, but it did the job. The house felt a little dated, the kitchen was noisy, the chairs scraped without glides, and the bulbs flickered. The garage and pool were fine, though the pool wasn't heated.

The cottage has a small pool for cooling off and an outdoor grill, and it fits up to four people. Inside, the kitchen and bathroom are well equipped. The location is sunny and sheltered from the wind, with what seemed like the island's best weather; the north is cloudier and rainier. Calheta has a sandy beach and a well-stocked shop. There are three very nice cottages here, and I'd recommend renting a car to see as much of the island as you can.
