Villa Flora

I had a good stay in the house, and found the previous comment exaggerated compared with my own experience. It was spacious and clean, with a magnificent view in a quiet village. The place had a washing machine, bathtub, shower, a quite decent kitchen, and a TV. Like many older houses, it was a bit damp. I found it a little pricey, but still much better than the earlier review suggests. Maybe the accommodation has been improved since then!

The cleaning had clearly been neglected when we arrived: there was pasta in the sink, cobwebs around the house, and cockroaches and other insects. Some kitchen appliances were missing or broken, with no toaster and a faulty coffee maker. The bedding was very poor quality, and the house seemed to be falling into disrepair, with mold, a constant musty smell, and questionable paint and plasterwork. We paid €1000 for a five-night stay in Madeira, which seemed in line with the price of a villa there. After three days without a response, the owner washed his hands of the broken Jacuzzi, saying it was an extra charge, even though booking sites don't list such a charge. SCAM. I hope you see this before booking. Run away!
