Évora Olive Hotel

The room made it easy to rest well, with a comfortable bed, lovely pillows, and a spacious modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Breakfast was very good too, with plenty of choices for different tastes. We had a wonderful holiday in Evora, and the hotel was a welcoming place to return to. It was a great base for our time there, and we’d gladly stay again and recommend it to other visitors.

The rooms were plain and didn’t have much character or comfort to make the hotel feel like more than a solid four-star place at best. Breakfast was acceptable, though nothing special. The staff, on the other hand, were genuinely kind and very helpful. The location is a real plus, right beside the old town and handy for exploring Évora on foot. All in all, a good stay with mixed points.

Finding the hotel took some effort. Google Maps and Apple Maps sent us around in three loops before we panicked and called Reception for directions. Once there, we found a lovely location, warm and comfortable rooms, and an excellent shower. It’s a modern hotel among old city surroundings, with modern facilities and excellent reception staff. The breakfast is really good, as others have mentioned. We couldn’t try the restaurant because it was closed, and there weren’t many other restaurants within walking distance.

We liked the modern design, the good location by the park, and the roughly 10-minute walk to the center. The staff were friendly throughout, and despite the problems, I think they were mostly outside their control. Construction was underway at the hotel, and we could hear it in our room during breakfast and on Sunday afternoon, which made it hard to enjoy a quiet rest. There was also a morning power outage, leaving the bathroom completely dark. We used our phone flashlights to wash and shower, and it took a while for the power to come back. The first night was the worst hiccup. Ventilation noise went on all night even though the air conditioning was off. Maintenance wasn’t there and couldn’t fix it, and with the hotel full, I had to wear earplugs. The staff apologized and moved us to another room the next night. After I spoke with the manager, they agreed to a partial refund for the first night. I appreciated that, since guests shouldn’t have to bear the cost of a hotel problem. Despite all that, it’s a nice choice for a stay in Evora.
