Quinta Do Cano

We spent four rainy days here with a friend and our two dogs. The little house was clean and had everything we needed, and the quinta was peaceful. The dogs who live on the property were friendly and came to see us every day. The black pigs were adorable to watch. There was fresh cake and tea in the main house, and I enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the library. The owners were kind and friendly. We also really enjoyed a morning walk near the property. Evora is about a seven-minute drive away, so it’s a great location. Recommended.

If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, love animals, and appreciate good food prepared by the hosts, go for it. Nice pool area too.

We had a really cosy, clean, comfortable single room, and the Quinta itself is quite large, with plenty of rooms. The couple who run it are very kind. They leave out free water, cake, tea, and coffee at any time, which is a nice touch. It’s a quiet spot not far from Évora, set back from the main road. There’s a stretch of dirt road before the gate. We’ll definitely come back. Recommended.

The staff were really nice overall, though we found Monique a bit grumpy. Maybe it was because we arrived at 9.12 when check-in ends at 9, but the place isn’t the easiest to reach. The beds were super comfy, although be prepared for the dogs to wake you in the morning. It’s a farm, but good to know in advance. The setting is lovely, out in the countryside but close to Evora, and the pool is perfect on hot days, though it wasn’t especially clean. The nightly price is fair; breakfast felt a bit overpriced. It’s a very characterful place that reflects the owners’ personalities. An interesting experience, but not a particularly local one.
