Casa Via d'Agua

Gabriela was a friendly, thoughtful host and very helpful throughout our stay. Flores is an amazing island to visit, and Fãja grande made a great base, with natural pools and a beach on volcanic rocks that was still comfortable. It’s also close to Aldeia da Cuada and the wonderful Poço do Ribeiro Ferreiro, which is an absolute must-see. The traditional house has two roomy, comfortable bedrooms, each with a large bathroom, plus a pleasant living room with a flat-screen TV, satellite and WiFi. The cozy kitchen is well equipped and big enough to seat 6-8 for dinner. The location is excellent, with a direct view of the waterfalls, close to the beach and a nearby supermarket.

Veronica welcomed us with vegetables from her garden, local cheese and wine, and was always nearby when we needed help with little problems. The garden has a stunning view, and the location is lovely. We really enjoyed it.

Flores was the perfect place for our stay. :)

The house needs work inside. The doors and locks should be improved for security, the damp insulation needs attention, and the hot water often failed or took a long time to arrive. There was dust throughout the rooms, so cleanliness was about 4/10. The price felt very high, though I understand that’s part of the tourist business. The lovely garden and the natural surroundings did make up for some of it, with waterfalls visible each morning and wild nature all around. Faja Grande is an excellent location, but the quality for the price was poor.
