The kitchen had almost nothing useful for cooking, and the cottage was dirty. Dead cockroaches were already there when we arrived, then more appeared from the walls at night. The proprietor wouldn’t take phone calls. They said by text that the place would get a deep clean the next day, but it didn’t happen then or the day after, even though they told us while we were out that cleaning was underway. We found somewhere else to stay for our last night. Don’t stay here, it’s a waste of money and can ruin your holiday.

We asked for a refund after our stay and never got a response. The communication had already been very disappointing: when we first reported how dirty the rooms were, with insects throughout the property, nobody replied at first. Later we were told it had been cleaned, but that wasn’t true. They had simply opened all the windows, which was completely inappropriate for a ground-floor unit. The accommodation was far from satisfactory. The attached photos show its condition.

The apartment’s location and basic amenities seemed promising, but the stay was badly affected by hygiene problems. It was very dirty, smelled strongly and unpleasantly, and insects were present throughout the building. When we asked for proper cleaning, we were told it had already happened, yet nothing had changed. The apartment’s condition was unacceptable, and the response to our complaint was disappointing. We expected much better hygiene and customer service, and sadly can’t recommend it.

The team made everything easy, and the house felt thoughtfully cared for, from its cleanliness to the little details. It was comfortable, beautifully designed and well equipped. In Fajã Grande, we woke each morning to the waterfalls and ocean views, which felt like a dream. Casas da Cascata is a peaceful, charming base for exploring Flores Island, though staying in itself is an experience. Highly recommended for the natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere.
