Casa Da Baixa

Casa d’Alagoa was around the tenth hostel I’d stayed in on this trip, and Faro was stop number five. It was easily the best, even without being a big name or chain. A clean, quiet, friendly, convenient, and affordable place to stay. The shared kitchen has everything a cook needs, the common areas are roomy, and the staff are available to help. The sheets smell fresh, and the newly renovated bathrooms make you want to shower all the time lol 😂 Highly recommend!

I stayed with my wife and our five-year-old in a spotless private triple ensuite, and we loved it. Right in the city centre, the hostel has distinctive terraces and common areas. Helena and her Dream Team went above and beyond to meet guests’ needs. Best hostel in Faro, and we’ll return whenever we’re there.

The house itself has great spaces, but the reception staff play music far too loudly. It can be heard in the rooms from 8am until 11pm, disturbing guests who get up early, go to bed late, or just want some quiet in their rooms. I’ve run into this regrettably common hostel problem before. Staff are there to manage the place, not bother guests.

I enjoyed staying there and would recommend it. The old house has a lot of charm, and the people around were friendly. Some areas could have been cleaner, though with so many guests it can get messy again just ten minutes after cleaning. That seems like normal hostel life to me. I didn’t see any bugs or insects, by the way. I’ll come again 🙂
