Hotel Sol Algarve by Kavia

The staff were very helpful, and the hotel is right in central Faro, close to the marina and restaurants. The location is its main draw. My room was small, with worn, poor quality furnishings, as shown in the photos. For that standard, I found it expensive.

Clean, reasonably priced, and the staff were helpful. Street parking is free; a garage space costs €7.50 per night.

Basic accommodation for a great price, kept spotless with fresh sheets and towels every day. It’s about a five minute walk to the Old Town centre. I’d definitely stay again.

The room was clean and the location was good, which is why I’ve given two stars. It’s a five minute walk from the bus station, and the train station is close too. Reception welcomed me when I arrived for my five night stay, which cost about €250. My top floor room had a small balcony, but the rooms are tiny, much smaller than the pictures suggest. There was hardly any space around the bed, and the bathroom was tiny too. The room felt dated and could do with refurbishment. There were very few sockets, and the ones available were awkwardly placed. The switches by the bed were too high to reach while lying down. I didn’t get a good night’s sleep during my stay. There’s little or no soundproofing, so I could hear everything, including the elevators clanging at night and a constant humming noise. Footsteps on the tiled corridor woke me, and light came through the gaps around my door. It’s only a two star hotel, and I know it was cheap, but I wouldn’t come back or recommend it. The noise and lack of a relaxing stay cost it three stars for me. Sorry to be negative, but that was my experience.
