Hotel O Gato - Edificio Standard

Odivelas is a great place to get away to the countryside and be surrounded by nature, with all the amenities you need to relax. The setting is calm, the staff are friendly, and the restaurant and breakfast area serve good food. There’s a very tranquil lake and dam nearby, used to irrigate local olive, almond, and orange farms. We loved it and will return.

The swimming pool is the highlight, and the hotel’s decent restaurant meant we didn’t need to drive anywhere. It’s a good place to take two or three days off and do nothing. We stayed in a superior room in the newer of the hotel’s two separate buildings. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was OK, though a little short on variety. If you want somewhere to chill and reset for a couple of days, I’d recommend it.

The pool is big and cool, with a view over the vineyards, which is great in summer. The rooms were good and clean, and the food was great, though I mentioned decent food as well. Incredible value for the price. I’d come back if I’m in the region.

The room was hot, and the air conditioning didn’t work. It was also hard to find anyone because the reception desk was never staffed. There aren’t many hotel options in the area, but I’d say keep driving and don’t stay here.
