The cats and farm animals were the best part. Pretty much everything else needs work, especially for a place with “Spa” in its name. My room was stained all over, the old furniture was tired, and the bed was really uncomfortable. The bathroom was in terrible shape, with cheap soap and no skincare or other toiletries. The whole property needs maintenance and renovation, and the reception was cluttered with things lying around. Most of the time, there was nobody there to speak to. Getting up to the house was a nightmare. The road is rough enough that you could get a flat tire, and other rural agrotourism places handle this much better. Breakfast was one of the worst I've had. There was no tomato, fresh cheese, or olive oil, all standard parts of a Portuguese breakfast. The woman serving breakfast stayed in the kitchen and seemed annoyed when I asked for coffee, which tasted awful. The scrambled eggs had dark spots, so I wouldn't touch them. If I'd paid over 100€, I'd have asked for my money back. This place doesn't offer basic hospitality.

We got the peace and quiet we were after, and the room was great. After the stress of finding the place, we enjoyed the pool area. The directions just off the main road were wrong, and then there was still about 1 km of rocky dirt road with no signs at all. Welcome to Portugal's interior, I guess. With my current car, I definitely won't be coming back.

Borrowing bikes at no charge made it easy to ride around the farm and visit the mules, cows, and goats. The place has a lovely family feel, and clearly lots of guests come with children. We also had a wonderful dinner, four courses of freshly made dishes chosen by the chef from what was available that day. Everyone on staff was warm and friendly, and the setting among the olive groves is idyllic. Our recent stay at Herdade das Sesmarias Rural Tourism & SPA was a real delight. We'd happily recommend it.

The peaceful surroundings made for a really relaxing stay, and the resort's food left us very satisfied. Our room had everything we needed and a comfortable bed. The hostess was amazing and went above and beyond to make the stay as good as it was. I'd definitely come back.

We first stayed at Sesmarias last year, came back for a second year, and we're already planning to return next year. The night sky is beautiful, far enough from the city to spot shooting stars and even meteors. Everything felt calm, whether we were stretched out on the poolside sunbeds or watching the sunset with a glass of wine. The rooms are clean, cosy, and comfortable. The staff are wonderful too, from Sergio, who was so welcoming and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant, to Olga and Ema, who made every meal feel like an experience. Such a peaceful place to be.
