Boeira Garden Hotel Porto Gaia, Curio Collection by Hilton

We came away impressed by the service. Every staff member was welcoming and helpful, and we felt right at home. The hotel also gave us free vouchers for two port tonics at the bar, which we loved, and offered a complimentary tasting at the on-site winery. We didn't have time for the tasting, but appreciated the offer. It was wonderfully quiet, like an oasis in the city, and we slept well. After the busy historic center, it was lovely to return to somewhere private and peaceful. The hotel is new and modern. Dom Luis bridge and the river walks were 15-20 minutes away, and historic Porto was 30 minutes away. We usually walked there and took a car back to avoid the uphill climb. The room was beautiful and well designed, with a large, very comfortable bed. The bathroom was huge, with two sinks and a rainfall shower that was among the best we've had at a hotel. At check-in, which was quick and efficient, they offered us a taste of their Port wine, bottled at the on-site Quinta da Boeira. Since we had Amex Hotel Collection benefits, we were immediately upgraded to a garden/pool-facing King deluxe room. Breakfast was another highlight, included for two each day through Hilton Gold status. There was a big buffet with hot food including a full English breakfast, smoked salmon, vegetables, lots of fresh pastries including Pasteis de Nata, fresh juices, pancakes, waffles, crepes, and fruit. Made-to-order omelettes and eggs Benedict were available too, and coffee including espresso drinks was included. The variety and quality were impressive, and it was great value as a benefit. We ate at the hotel restaurant once using our Amex credit. The food tasted good, but the portions were small for the high prices. Our other dinners elsewhere cost much less despite being similar quality. We loved our three-night stay and were sad to leave. We'd definitely come back.
