We both loved our stay. The town was quiet and picturesque, and the people were so friendly. We love history, so having it right outside the door made the experience special. The owner was very helpful, and a shout-out to the cook, who checked on us at every meal and was happy to bring us more when we asked. The pool was lovely too.

Casa da Cisterna was one of the highlights of our Portugal trip. The views were stunning, and the lovely host Ana and fantastic chef Isabel made us feel right at home. We only wished we could have stayed longer, and hope to come back.

The guesthouse has a beautiful setting, with breakfast overlooking a huge stretch of land. It really feels like stepping back in time. Cisterna guesthouse was a wonderful place to stay, and the staff were incredibly friendly and amazing. We highly recommend it.

Ana was incredibly kind and always ready with help or ideas for what to see. The rest of the staff were lovely too. Set in a charming old hilltop village, the guesthouse has sweeping views across the region. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the pool was great. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade jams, cakes, pancakes, yogurt, bread, eggs, ham, and cheese. You can also book dinner, which was delicious as well. Thanks, Ana and team!

Ana has spent more than 25 years helping Castelo Rodrigo flourish again and protecting archaeological sites in the region. Don't miss her evening tour of the stone engravings made 20,000 or 30,000 years ago by unknown artists. Their work still feels powerful in the 21st century. Casa da Cisterna's hilltop location within Castelo Rodrigo's walls is superb, with spectacular views. The comfortable, well-appointed rooms and excellent breakfasts deserve the praise the place gets from travel advisors.
