We stayed at Mels for a week while visiting Madeira, after friends suggested the apartment. The owners were easy to reach by phone at any hour and very welcoming. We really appreciated the little welcome present, and the folder they put together with useful phone numbers, ideas for things to do on Madeira, and their picks for places to eat. Getting around on foot was easy: the old town, city center and a shopping center were all close by. Inside, the apartment was nicely furnished, with a balcony looking out over the sea. It also had the practical things we needed, including a washer, iron, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, spices, oil and vinegar. We'd happily recommend staying here and would definitely return.
