Pier House Accommodation

The location is good, but what happened with our things was disgusting. My friend left a swimming costume in the wardrobe, and I forgot my medication in the room fridge, along with a cooler bag and a tin of caviar. She called the hotel that same day to explain, but they said they hadn’t found anything. We’d been travelling around Spain and Portugal for almost a month, and I hadn’t had an experience this awful the whole time. I can understand someone taking a swimming costume or caviar, but taking somebody’s medication is vile. People who do that shouldn’t be anywhere near hospitality.

The walls are paper thin, so you can hear someone moving a chair in the room next door. The room itself was a bit dirty, and the staff were horrible. One bed leg had come loose, probably while the room was being cleaned, and the bed was unstable and unusable. We told reception, and they said they’d repair it that evening so we could carry on with our plans. We got back at 23:00 and it still hadn’t been fixed. When we called, they basically told us to sort it out ourselves because it was after working hours. Horrible experience, paying for a bed and not having one 🫡

We were left waiting outside for an hour and a half. Nobody was there to open the door, so we called the host, who said she’d be there in a minute. After 45 minutes we called again. She shouted, “I said I’m coming!” and hung up. Another 45 minutes passed before she arrived. She didn’t acknowledge the wait or apologize, just went upstairs and asked for our passports. Then, during check-in, I asked about some taxes and the 100 Euro deposit because we’d booked through Booking.com. She wouldn’t answer and canceled our booking right in front of us. When I asked to speak to the owner, she said they were “not available.” We were kicked out without any more explanation. By far the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until the person responsible is replaced by someone who understands hospitality, or at least basic politeness.

We were confused and unsure if we’d come to the right place because nobody was there to receive us. It made an already difficult day much harder. We emailed Booking.com and the hotel, but didn’t get a proper response. Eventually we found a mobile number on the hotel website and got in touch. They still didn’t come to meet us, only gave us a clue about where the key was kept.
