The Cliff Bay Resort

The seafront sunbathing area is outstanding, with a fantastic restaurant down by the lower area. Our room was very spacious, and we had a sea view balcony that was ideal for relaxing with some madera wine. The spa, with its indoor and outdoor pool, felt luxurious. A five star luxury hotel.

For our honeymoon, we arrived to find an upgraded room, chilled Champagne and chocolates waiting for us. The view from the room was picture perfect and priceless, and the restaurants were world class. Service and staff were top tier throughout. We travel often, and honestly, Cliff Bay may be the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. If you’re considering booking, you definitely won’t regret it.

The rooms are spacious, very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. It’s a little way out of the centre, but the hotel’s service and quality more than make up for that. I especially liked the seating around the indoor pool, a real bonus when it isn’t warm outside. The staff were probably the best part, friendly and professional. I’d definitely come back 😊

The hotel staff welcomed us warmly, and the gardens looked wonderful in spring, full of palms, ferns, shrubs and planters. We had a lovely lazy Sunday afternoon in Funchal with afternoon tea for two on the Cliff Bar terrace. We chose English Breakfast tea, and the food was their delicious standard offering. A highly recommended experience.
