The setting is lovely and quiet, in a pleasant part of Funchal with a wide campus of bars, restaurants and leisure activities. We made happy family memories here. On the strength of previous visits, we brought the whole family this year and stayed for 26 ‘room nights’ in total. That says plenty. Rooms are spacious and kept clean, and the food remains a highlight: plenty of choices, freshly served, with portions regularly topped up. The staff are extremely capable. Head Breakfast Chef, Joao, was especially professional, welcoming and smiling, and nothing seemed to be a bother. Happy hours and evening music, including live background bands at several bars, make for a lively atmosphere. We had a few avoidable annoyances because we chose Full Board. Prestige Club policies seemed misaligned, and on our last day we were charged a small amount for a sandwich because we'd checked out just 30 minutes earlier, despite having skipped most lunches during the stay. Also, like several other guests, both of us seniors had a mild seasonal health issue that took a while to shake off. We have no complaint about the precautions the hotel then took for all guests. Thanks to GM, Andre for helping arrange the booking.

We left with happy memories and would gladly return when we get the chance. The staff welcomed us warmly and stayed attentive, friendly and ready to help throughout. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel felt relaxing, with beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. The food was delicious, and the well-kept spaces showed how much care had gone into the place. I'd recommend it to anyone after a lovely holiday.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent in every restaurant we tried. Breakfast offered a huge range of quality options. Watching the omelettes being made was great. A very good hotel stay.

The staff were lovely, especially Dora and Paulina, who were just the best. The entertainment was the worst we've experienced anywhere. We went for the gala, but there wasn't one, just an ordinary dinner and rubbish entertainment. They also only let you have one glass of wine even though they say it's all inclusive. And I've never before had to pay for water in the room in a hot country.

We had a wonderful time. The hotel was very clean, the staff brilliant, friendly and helpful, and the food very good. The only letdown was the bill at the end, which wasn't itemised clearly enough. I also would have liked more bottled water in the room. Definitely 4☆plus.
