Quinta das Cegonhas

The meal we had with other guests at the bar and restaurant on Friday was excellent for the price, and the staff were very helpful. We were too early in the season to use the pool, though the area looked great. We spent five days here, three of them with family who camped alongside us. The campsite is spacious and well laid out. The toilets, showers, and other facilities were spotless, with plenty of hot water. Reception had lots of information on the notice boards in several languages. We’d thoroughly recommend it and hope to be back in the future.

The lovely restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, the service is great, and the facilities are good. The pitches are spacious, level, and mostly shaded, and there’s a nice big pool. It’s one of our favourite campsites, especially for its setting in the beautiful Serra de Estrela. There’s also a pretty town with a good pizzeria just a 10 minute walk away.

The pool was great, and the toilets were always clean. Service all around was very good. Thanks to André for the warm hospitality and good dinner service at the restaurant. This place has a character that really suits its surroundings. The pitches are terraced, with plenty of trees that don’t provide shade. We planned to stay two nights but ended up staying three.

There are wonderful hikes from the campsite up into the hills, near Melo. The bar and restaurant are on site, though in low season the restaurant opens only when there’s enough demand. We had a lovely meal last night with most of the other guests staying here. This is by far the best campsite we’ve stayed at so far on our tour of Portugal. For a site this size, the showers and toilets are first class. Well worth visiting if you’re in the area.
