Even without staying overnight, we got a personal tour from the owner, who explained how cork is harvested. This family farm is in its fifth generation of cork production, and his passion for the work really came through. The centuries-old cork oaks are majestic, and the whole place feels peaceful, surrounded by nature. We had a delicious lunch made with fresh ingredients from the farm. It tasted authentic and full of flavor. A special place with heart and history, ideal for unwinding, learning something unique, and getting a feel for rural life in Portugal. Highly recommended!

We’ve stayed at Herade das Barradas da Serra twice now, and the food has been wonderful both times. We had two dinners and a lunch, all delicious traditional dishes made with care. The rooms are clean and full of character, and the beds are so comfortable. Francisco and the staff are welcoming, kind and accommodating, just lovely in general. It’s a peaceful oasis, and I can’t recommend it enough.

We spent six nights here with our little family and felt very welcome. Everyone was glad to help. The breakfast had lots of variety, and the lunch and dinner options were simple but delicious. Try the scrambled egg with chorizo and asparagus, and the homemade ice-cream. There’s a cosy living and dining room with a fireplace. You can drive to the beach in 15 minutes, and there are hiking trails right on the property, from 5-10km depending on the route. They’re easy to follow, with clear signs through a beautiful cork oak forest. We’ll definitely be back. A wonderful place for a quiet getaway!

We spent four nights here in June 2022 and loved the beautiful setting and relaxing feel. There’s an understated sense of luxury throughout. The rooms are comfortable rather than fancy, and the pool area, with lawns, cypress trees and pink oleander around it, is beautiful. The buffet breakfast was outstanding, with seasonal treats sourced locally. I also enjoyed walking one of the marked trails through the hills and cork oak forests.
