The shared bathroom was clean and we had no trouble using it. Just remember, though, it's a hostel, so it can get noisy at night and there's not much to be done about that. Our three-bed room had a queen size bed and was spacious, spotless, and cool. There were lots of towels and blankets available. The owner clearly cares about keeping the place up to a high standard. Breakfast was a real treat, with croissants, bread, fruit, cereal, jam, butter, and cheese. The common spaces were lovely too: a roomy lounge, places to work on a laptop, and a covered terrace where you can have coffee and watch the rain, which comes often in Guimarães. The green forest decoration on the walls and ceiling made it feel calm. One of the best hostels I've stayed in.

A well equipped hostel with the feel of a boutique hotel, but at hostel prices. It's less than a five minute walk from the historic center, castle, and palace. The kitchen is fully stocked, and there's a living room, dining room, courtyard, and terrace. Fantastic staff!

The double bed was much too hard for me, even though I usually like a firm mattress. Still, this was good value for one night, and breakfast was excellent, with tasty croissants, bread, tea, coffee, and yogurt. We had the huge studio, which sleeps six or seven and has a small kitchen plus seating and dining space. The hostel is close to Guimarães castle and palace, and the friendly staff can suggest restaurants and give tourist advice. We saw the town in one night, though you'd want longer to explore further afield. Getting there from the station takes about 15 minutes on cobbled streets and hilly roads, so I'd recommend taking a €4 Uber or taxi.

It's a peaceful place, close to all the sights in Guimarães, and the breakfast is a nice option. The hostel and staff were great, and it was among the cleanest places I've stayed. I'd recommend it to solo travelers, couples, or families.
