A humble place that gives you shelter, but the building isn't modern or well maintained. The staff are very polite and friendly, and the continental breakfast is good.

The hotel is away from the center, though it has a pleasant, simple look with a proudly Portuguese theme. The corridors and rooms are named after famous Portuguese artists. The pool was unusable during my only night there, supposedly until the next day. The food was disappointing: the chicken steaks were raw inside, and the soup was very salty and low quality.

The food was plain but really tasty, and there was plenty of it. I’m not usually a fan of cod, but theirs was delicious, so I’d happily come back. The place could do with fresh paint and has clearly seen better days, yet it was spotless and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive.

Last night's dinner was awful from the starters onward. Some dishes had no flavor, while others tasted rancid. The hake loin was basically just water, and the pork fillets had been boiled before they poured sauce over them, leaving them dry. It all felt like food cooked without any care. At £19.50 per person, it really shouldn't have been like that.
