Open Village Sports Hotel & SPA Club

The breakfast was nice, and there’s tennis and paddle to play, plus a great view. From outside the place looks really nice, though it needs some upgrades indoors. The swimming pool area in particular is old and really dirty, with bits of debris on the bottom.

The view is great and it’s a nice place, but we were four and got a room with one king-size bed and one small bed. That wasn’t great for a hotel like this. The bathroom wall also needs repair.

I used this modern design hotel during a work trip. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff super friendly. The one drawback was being close to the highway. Even with double windows, some background noise still comes through.

I spent one night at the Open Village Sports Hotel & Spa Club, and it was among the worst hotel stays I’ve had. That’s especially shocking for a place presented as 4-star. The room was in an unacceptable state: there were suspicious carpet stains that looked like dried blood, the fridge was rusty and dirty, the shower handle was visibly filthy and worn, and I found hair on the bathroom floor when I checked in. I was so disgusted and uncomfortable that I couldn’t sleep or even take a shower. The room wasn’t fit for guests. I contacted management right away to request a refund of €80, and they said they would deal with it. More than 10 days later, I still had no refund or proof of payment. I sent several polite emails and gave them chances to sort it out discreetly, but the hotel stopped responding. Since then, I’ve filed a formal complaint with the Portuguese Consumer Authority, reported the matter to ASAE, the national food and economic safety authority, and decided to share what happened publicly. I can’t recommend this hotel. The advertised 4-star experience didn’t meet even basic hygiene or customer service standards.
