For a 2-star hotel, this went beyond what I expected. The staff were helpful, attentive, and good at juggling tasks. The person at reception also prepared the morning drinks. When our room's air conditioning stopped working at night, they fixed it the next day, and they brought me hot water for tea whenever I asked. The hotel is in a safe area, though I found all of Guimaraes safe. It's opposite the train station for Porto, close to Vila Flor garden and a supermarket, about a ten-minute walk from the city center, with restaurants next door. My husband loved the breakfast coffee and espresso. Housekeeping changed our used towels daily and made the bed. A few small things bothered me. The hallway and stair lights use motion sensors that respond slowly, so it can be dark for a second or two. The free breakfast is mostly sweet baked goods. The bathroom faucet was loud, there were no plugs for the sink or tub, and I wish the room had an electric kettle.

The staff were especially friendly, particularly the younger man who mostly worked during the week. The fourth-floor room had a great view, comfortable beds, and a mini fridge that came in very handy. The air conditioning was powerful and warmed the room in seconds. Breakfast was standard continental. Parking can be tricky, but the train station across the road has plenty of spaces. The hotel wasn't certified online with the Stay Safe emblem, but it was very clean, with sanitizers all over the place. The toilet had a small leak. The hotel was a bit far from where I needed to be, but I could travel, so it wasn't a problem. For the price, I was very satisfied.

The view from my balcony was really nice, and the staff had a friendly, family feel. The rooms, bathrooms included, were very clean. The breakfast room is basic, but the breakfast itself was very good, with lots of choices and excellent coffee. It's right in the center, one minute on foot from the train station and about five to seven minutes from the historic center. I'll definitely come back.

The location is good, right outside the train station, about a 15-minute walk from the bus station and five minutes from the town center. Breakfast was good, and the beds were comfortable. Our suite did have some water infiltration problems in the bathroom.

Even though we were right in front of the train station, we couldn't hear any noise. The staff were the nicest ever and helped us with anything we needed, including finding nice things to do nearby. I'd definitely come back.
