Hi Lagos - Pousada de Juventude

The beds don't have privacy curtains, and the reading lamps light up the whole room. Still, for the price, the service makes this a good deal for me. The staff were lovely, helped with my luggage, and had breakfast ready before the usual time. It's an older, modest youth hostel, but there's a kitchen, lots of bathrooms, heating, and an extra blanket if you need one. The 24-hour reception is handy, and the hostel sits on a quiet street right in the city center. That's the kind of dependable service that keeps me returning to this chain.

We stayed in a private room as a couple. The room was clean, and the location worked well for us, with the beach, city center, restaurants, and bus station nearby. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even got breakfast ready extra early because we had to leave early. Breakfast itself was okay, though a little more variety would have been nice.

The outdoor common area was fine, and the staff were lovely. They also let us leave our bags at reception after checkout. That's about all I can praise. I counted what I think were five cockroaches over my four-day stay. The showers had mould, and the beds were so shaky that it felt like an earthquake when the person above me climbed into bed. My room was on the ground level facing the street, and it was extremely loud. Closing the windows kept some noise out but made the room very hot, and I still woke up to young people heading to the bars and lots of motorbikes speeding past. My assigned cupboard wouldn't lock, so I was lucky I could attach my padlock to the one next to it. The locks on all the cupboards also used the same key as the bedroom door. There was a man sleeping in the only indoor common area the whole time, which struck me as odd, and it seemed like someone from the street could walk in. At one point, dirty, smelly water came up through the floor beside the kitchen. Not a nice spot to eat. The free breakfast was good, but I'd rather see the money go toward updating the hostel.

Breakfast comes with the stay, and the staff were so kind that I felt really welcome. Obrigado!
