WOT Lagos Montemar Soul

I was in town for a short trip to play in the Lagos Chess Open. For the price, the stay was reasonable and covered the basics. The staff were helpful and friendly, and I liked the small balcony outside the window. The room itself was small, as expected for this category. I tried sleeping with the window open instead of using the air conditioning, but noise from nearby rooms' AC units made me shut it again. There isn't parking at the hotel, but a public parking area is about a two-minute walk away. That worked in low season, though spaces may be harder to find in peak periods. The walk to the city center takes a while. The building exterior looked a bit dated compared with the online photos, and the desk was far too small to work at with a laptop. The hotel seems to offer or help arrange water activities, though I didn't join any; interested guests could ask the staff for details. A decent budget choice if you don't expect to spend much time in the room.

Edouardo at reception was lovely and gave us lots of tips and recommendations. We were welcomed with pastel de nata, and the room was clean and nice. Breakfast was really good, though a little day-to-day variety would have made it better. The hotel is around 5-10 minutes on foot from the beach and about the same from the historic center.

The location worked really well, close to the old town and good restaurants, with the boardwalk also within walking distance. I walked to Ponta da Piedade and took a bolt back. My room had a balcony and a small glimpse of the ocean, and it was a good budget-friendly option. There was an elevator, individual wall AC/heater, and a hair dryer. The bar only serves drinks, but you can order food delivery and eat in that area.

Everything was good for us, from the location and staff to the breakfast and cleanliness. We enjoyed our stay. Cheers from Romania.
