The property sits on a hillside among vineyards, looking out over a lovely valley. Breakfast came with the room and was very good, with lots of choices. Dinner costs extra, but after a long drive it was convenient not to head back into town. The freshly prepared meal was excellent, with an appetizer, soup, main, dessert, port, and coffee. They also served a glass of the estate’s wine, and the service was first-rate. We spent two nights here on a road trip through northern Portugal. The staff were friendly and responsive, though nobody seemed to be on-site outside the main part of the day. The guesthouse is adequate and well kept, but like many older European properties, its design shows its age. Our room and bathroom were compact, there wasn’t much room to sit or unpack, and the bed was small by modern standards. The walls are thin, so conversations, footsteps, and doors closing carried through the building. When some of the “less considerate” guests were away, though, it was pleasant to sit in the little lobby by the softly flickering, crackling fireplace. Overall, a pleasant and reasonably comfortable stay.

We had an amazing time here as my husband and I traveled through Portugal. The grounds are a photographer’s dream, and the service was impeccable. We wish we could have stayed more than one night.

We wish we’d had more time here. There’s plenty of outdoor space to enjoy in the evening, and we had a lovely dinner in the dining room, followed by breakfast. We also enjoyed the family wines with dinner. The room was clean and comfortable at La Quinta B&B, tucked away on the hillside just up from Lamego.

The kind, tireless service from the woman who checked us in, served dinner, and was there at breakfast is what I’ll remember most. The hotel seemed understaffed, and I hope she’s paid very well. Dinner was really good, and I recommend booking half board with the room. The hotel views are fantastic, and the pool area is nice, though the pool water was a little cloudy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but small, a bit outdated, and without soundproofing. It’s a relaxed, friendly hotel.

I liked the location for exploring the Douro Valley, and the accommodation was adequate. Communication was the main problem. Nobody told us that dinner needed to be reserved each day, so we were out of luck when we walked into the restaurant without a booking. The staff all seemed distant, and the place didn’t feel welcoming.
