Torel Palace Lisboa

The staff are what made this place unforgettable. They were consistently attentive, warm, and professional, and every interaction made us feel special. We recommend it wholeheartedly and can't wait to return. Torel made us fall in love with Lisbon, and it's the only place we'll recommend to family and friends visiting. We flew over from the USA for our anniversary after doing a lot of research, and the property was exceptional. The view over Lisbon was magnificent, better than the viewpoints around the city. Our room had high ceilings, beautiful moldings, gorgeous views, and a delicious breakfast was served. We're particular about sleep and found the beds extremely comfortable. We travel often, and this is one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. Thank you, Torel team!

The staff were kind and accommodating when we raised the room issue, and willing to work with us since it wasn't up to its usual standard. The breakfast was lovely, with something for everyone, and became one of our favorite parts of the stay. They also arranged an airport taxi and gave us takeaway breakfast boxes with assorted items and orange juice, a really thoughtful touch. The property is beautiful and, given its age, well maintained. The main disappointment was the hot tub in the balcony room we paid extra for. It was broken when we arrived and looked like it hadn't been used in a long time. We were clear with the staff that it was a major reason we chose both the room and hotel, but it wasn't fixed during our four-day, three-night stay. We'd really been looking forward to using it in the cool weather, so that put a damper on the start of our visit. I also wouldn't call the steep hillside location especially accessible for anyone with mobility issues, though that's true of much of Lisbon. To update this review, we were given a significant refund.

Every little gesture felt thoughtful: treats in my room when I arrived, chocolates from housekeeping, a surprise chocolate pudding after dinner, someone greeting me at the taxi, and staff gently looking after my bags when I left. They knew it was my birthday and that I was traveling alone, and somehow the place felt like home. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, with lovely city views and a great mix of comfort and luxury. I've stayed in plenty of hotels, mostly five-star, and the level of care here was something special. Huge thanks to every staff member for one of my best hotel stays. I'll absolutely be back.

The one letdown was the spa area. It wasn't what we expected from a five-star place. Everything else was great, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was one of the best parts of the stay. We chose Torel Palace for its setting on one of Lisbon's seven hills and stayed four nights. Our Suite Imperial was lovely, with views across the city, the river basin, and the castle, and everything we needed was provided. We also got to visit the hotel's highest point, the tower, which has a breathtaking view. Thanks again, Lola and the whole Torel team!
