The room at THE PEARL OF LISBON HOSTEL was filthy and clearly hadn't been prepared. There was hair everywhere, the toilet smelled like a sewer, and the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, so there was no privacy. The owner gave us no guidance at check-in and ignored every complaint. No reply, no care. There were terrifying, strange noises in the corridor all night. Disgusting and felt unsafe. After 13 years of booking stays around the world through Booking.com, this was easily my worst experience. Avoid it.

We stayed at Akicity Alameda Fusion, 184 Avenida Almirante Reis, Arroios, 1000-054 Lisbon, Portugal. The place was in terrible shape, and every door knob was broken. The toilet door wouldn't close either. They took a 150 euro deposit in cash and never gave it back. I couldn't trace them afterward. This Akicity group is a fraud, pathetic, and I'd say never book anything with them.

On Friday, March 18, 2022, the eight of us arrived at the Akycity Lisboa Pearls apartment we had booked through Booking.com, only to be told the reservation had been canceled. We had an invoice and had paid a month ahead, but they left us out on the street with our suitcases. Luckily, a taxi driver named Rodrigo helped us get in touch with someone. After three hours standing outside and on the phone, we were told they could put us somewhere else, but we'd have to book again through Booking.com. We did, and found it was a hostel with shared rooms and one bathroom for 12 other people. They charged us again, so we chose a hotel for at least the first night. After that, we started filing complaints and posting everything on social media. Bad on Booking.com, and shameful management at the AKICITY LISBOA PEARL APARTMENT.
