Alface Hostel

The location is great, but getting any sleep was extremely difficult. It’s on a busy street with bars open late every night. The room gets very hot, and there’s no AC, just a small fan. The building smells very musty, and the showers are too hot.

The staff were really nice and the location was good, but the rooms could use renovation. There’s no elevator, so you have to carry your suitcase up the wooden stairs.

The staff were great, and the setting felt welcoming and intimate. It’s a really unusual place with live music. We missed the music on the evening we stopped by, unfortunately, but stayed for a couple of drinks. Shows end at 2300 because of noise regulations. I’d definitely come back, and would make sure to arrive in time for the show. It looked like a lot of fun.

It was a shame that the bar was closed for our whole stay, even though they apparently have one. Still, the staff pointed us to O Trevo for breakfast, which we appreciated. We were happy to stay in a beautiful, lively part of Lisboa. The building is beautiful and old, with both private rooms and dorms. The shared bathrooms were small but never busy, and the kitchen was the same.
