The apartment was clean, and the price and location are excellent. Check-in was a little difficult, though, since the email arrived only a few hours before the first night. It also isn’t suitable for children.

Ruben, who worked at the sunset destination hostel, was lovely and helped us with our luggage both before and after check-in. We had an excellent stay in the patio apartment!
The staff were friendly, and the location in Alfama is good, though there’s some walking involved. Our room was small and the bed was rather hard, but it wasn’t terrible. The shower and toilet room was extremely cramped, an average-sized man could barely turn around in it. Breakfast was quite nice for a hostel, so we can recommend this place.
The location was amazing, with lots within walking distance, and you can catch the 28E Tram right outside. For great views and points of interest on the way down to the Arco da Rua Augusta, it’s even better to head out and walk along the tram route. The food was delicious everywhere we tried, including the restaurants downstairs, which had lovely window views. It was a beautiful, unique place and a great introduction to Lisboa. The value was decent, and we’d stay again. Just be prepared for how small the place is. The rooms are small, the bathroom even smaller. I’m 5'6", and the sink came up to my chest, while the pipes were above my knees when I sat on the toilet. The shower pressure was great, but the hot and cold knobs above your head do nothing. You adjust the temperature with the knob that turns the shower on. The beds were comfortable enough. I wouldn’t bring a child under eight, since the terrace doors are too easy to open from a safety perspective. The patio had a great view, though the tables and benches were put away, probably because it was November and raining. The kitchen was okay, but the pots and pans were greasy and dirty. I always wash things before using them anyway. I prefer to cook on vacation because of food sensitivities, so I’d have liked a cleaner, better-equipped kitchen, though I understand other guests might not need one. Check-in was confusing. Follow the pictures in the email, since they show the right spot, and don’t rely on the building signs. The code in the picture didn’t match the safe’s actual number. There’s a number above the courtyard doors, but that isn’t the apartment. You need to use the stairwell around the building’s left corner.
The reception staff were so friendly and accommodating, and there were always weekend activities to join. I also enjoyed the harbor view and rooftop access. Friday night’s dinner and the breakfast were very well done. I had an amazing time visiting Lisboa and will be back!
