America Diamonds Hotel

Breakfast was actually good, and it’s the only reason I’m giving the American Diamond Hotel one star instead of zero. We stayed from February 1 to February 3, and the rest of the experience was awful. There were ants all over our room, even crawling on the towels. I reported it to reception right away. The man there was no help, offered no solution or fresh towels, and abruptly hung up while I was on the phone. When I went downstairs to speak to him, he was rude and dismissive, and suggested the ants were somehow our fault, even though we’d reported them as soon as they appeared. He also refused to take the ant-covered towels and said we should stay in the room. I was shocked by his behavior. The evening receptionist on February 2 spoke to us in an unacceptable way. With the ants, poor hygiene, and hostile service, I’d strongly advise people to avoid this hotel. A good breakfast can’t make up for such an uncomfortable stay.

We were hoping for a bit more. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good, and the room was clean, but it was tiny and really noisy. We could hear the elevator and all the sounds from the pipes. The location was good and right next to the metro, so I wouldn’t say I can’t recommend the place. The room just wasn’t the best experience.

The buffet was often empty, though breakfast itself was generally fine. Some parts of the hotel also seemed poorly maintained: the shower seal in our replacement room had severe mold, and parts of the parquet floor were damaged. We’d booked for a week, but had to change rooms after finding an acute ant infestation in the bathroom and bedroom. The ants were everywhere, including in our clothes. Once we told the staff about the insects, they were very helpful and arranged the room change.

I’d stayed here once before and had a great experience, so the second visit was a real letdown. Both stays were booked through Booking.com. I’d asked for a specific room weeks in advance, but staff didn’t provide it and communication was poor. Several things in the room didn’t work, and the bathtub I’d chosen the room for was pointless because there was no water in the hotel. When I raised this, there was no compensation or serious effort to fix things. I was told to contact Booking.com. They later said they couldn’t reach the hotel, although the hotel had my details and ways to contact me and never tried. After this, the hotel went straight onto my blacklist. It’s disappointing to see a place that once made a good impression fall so far in service, communication, and care for returning guests.
