The 8 Downtown Suites

The rooms were clean and had useful things, and guests got welcome wine. The location is good, but this is a traditional Lisbon building with double-height floors and no elevator. Getting luggage up to the second floor can be difficult if you have big bags. Early check-in and luggage storage are tricky because it isn’t a hotel. It’s a residence building with rooms converted into Airbnb rentals.

I expected a hotel at this price. The remote staff were friendly and helpful, but I thought I’d booked a hotel and the room turned out to be very small, with a funny bathroom. It might work for one person or even a couple, but not a family.

There was a bottle of wine and some sweets waiting on the table, which felt warm and thoughtful. The owner was very nice and helpful, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. There was a coffee machine that made delicious coffee each morning, plus an adapter and a first aid box in the closet. The room and bathroom were both small, which is my only complaint. With such a great central location, though, it’s still a decent choice for a traveler.

The location was amazing, and the place was very comfortable. Getting in was easy, and communication with the staff was fantastic. I did think it was a bit pricey for what it was, since you’re paying for the location. The bathroom was tiny, split into two little rooms, and the handle kept falling off.
