The neighborhood has a lot of charm and the location is good, though it gets noisy at night. The apartment itself is tiny but cute. Getting luggage up the steep stairs is a pain.

We spent five days here, and the location worked really well for seeing Lisbon. It sits between São Jorge Castle and the city center, with historic sights, lunch and dinner options, and a little supermarket about a two-minute walk away. Public transport is around five minutes down the stairs. The neighborhood is lovely, and the apartment is in a typical Portuguese building. The terrace is nice for breakfast or dinner, with a table and chairs, though you have to climb a small staircase to get there. Inside, it was clean, the sheets smelled pleasantly of laundry detergent, and the sofa mentioned in older reviews has been replaced. We noticed a slight sewer smell occasionally, but it seemed to come from the street pipes, not the apartment, and it wasn't constant or daily. Lisbon's narrow streets can have this issue because of the city's layout. The little street itself was quiet. There are plenty of bars and restaurants on the street below, so evenings can be lively, but closing the bedroom windows kept the noise out. You can enjoy the evening or get a good night's sleep. There are stairs to reach the apartment and at the entrance, so it isn't really suitable for older guests or people with mobility difficulties. We booked through Airbnb. The request for information wasn't a scam, and they didn't ask for a copy of my ID or anything like that. Since a company manages the apartment, that seemed normal to me, and I've seen similar requests with other company-run apartments in Portugal, related to GDPR. About cancellations, a same-day cancellation only gives a partial refund, while cancelling seven days before arrival is what qualifies for a full refund, even through a site like Airbnb.

Getting there was difficult because I had no cell service, and I couldn't make it by the 8 pm check-in time. Some young people helped me get a signal, and I finally arrived at 10:45 pm. I contacted the property, but they left me stranded, so I had to find a nearby hotel for the night. When I came back the next morning to check in, I found out they'd canceled my reservation and wouldn't refund the next three nights I'd already paid for. It was a nightmare. They kept my money.
