The eight of us had a great trip. The restaurants and bars were all fantastic, the food and wine were cheap and delicious, and people were so friendly. We loved being in the city, which is easy to explore on foot, though the hills and cobbled pavements mean I wouldn’t bring heels for the evening. We took the Number 28 tram on our first day to get a feel for the city. The stop is about a minute from the apartment and seemed like a good place to get a seat. Inside, the lounge was big and comfortable, with room for all eight of us to sit and chat. The bedrooms were nice and clean, and we each had a proper bed, with three bathrooms to share. The apartment is really big and well located, though I think 22 people would be quite uncomfortable. The kitchen felt old and basic, but we didn’t need to use it. When we arrived, the guide was very friendly and helpful when we called to be let in. The big green metal doors looked locked up, which worried us at first, but the inside was great.

We were 12 people in the apartment, and the four-poster bed in my room made the stay unforgettable. It’s a beautiful place in a great spot in Bairro Alto. Even though it was from the ’80s, it still had a wow effect on us. I’ll definitely come back.

There were only two keys for 15 people, and some of the balcony furniture was rotten. We also noticed a bad smell from the drains. Towels were provided, and there’s a rooftop terrace, but they didn’t provide nearly enough garbage bags or toilet paper for our large group. The apartment is very spacious and close to the city center, though the bedrooms feel cramped when it’s full. Each bed has a storage compartment with an extra mattress you can pull out. Some areas weren’t very clean. One bed in our room had heavy stains, but luckily we could switch to another. There’s no air conditioning, and the apartment gets stuffy at night. Opening the windows is difficult because they face the noisy main road. The pull-out beds have poor mattresses where you can feel all the springs, and they don’t come with proper duvets like the regular beds.
