Casa do Mercado Lisboa

The rooms were very clean, and the location made getting around easy. We could walk to the Old Town or reach the train station quickly. A big thank you to Pedro for being so helpful and sharing lots of good ideas for things to do in Lisbon. We especially liked his recommendation for a magical Fado night.

The people at Casa do Mercado made our stay special. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and Pedro was especially helpful with ideas for sightseeing, day trips, and restaurants. He clearly loves Lisbon and the surrounding area, carried both our bags to the room, and suggested taking the train to Cascais after we’d spent several days walking around the city. It was a wonderful tip. A day by the sea was a lovely change of pace and finished off our spring trip perfectly. Thank you, Pedro. We’ll be back. The room was spotless and had plenty of shelves and storage, plus a mini fridge, tea and coffee, and a complimentary bottle of wine. Breakfast was excellent. The place was easy to find and in a great location, close to lots of restaurants and squares where you can have a glass of wine or a beer.

The staff’s local knowledge helped us fit Lisbon’s main and most beautiful sights into a short stay. That sort of guidance is priceless, and the whole visit felt incredibly well spent. Everyone deserves a raise, from housekeeping to the concierge. If hospitality were an Olympic sport, this team would be on the podium. The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated, and everything was easy to reach from the central location. Breakfast had a great selection and gave us plenty of energy to start the day. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

The location is very good, but our stay was just OK, not wonderful. We hadn’t realized the room was only accessible by stairs, with no lift. Carrying a 25 kg suitcase and kid’s things up those steep, high steps was difficult and felt dangerous. There was no mattress protector or undersheet, which didn’t seem hygienic at all, and the room had lots of patch-up jobs. The roof windows were broken, so we couldn’t open them. We could also hear the neighbors showering at midnight, and the room was noisy.
