For two nights, the apartment was comfortable and had all the useful basics, including WiFi, coffee makers, a washing machine, and plenty of hot water. It’s in a good spot. Music from downstairs was audible, but I quite liked it, and it stopped at 11pm. The apartment suits two people; I think they also have a bigger duplex for larger groups. In summer I’d want a proper balcony or terrace, but I’d be happy to stay here at other times of year.

The steps up to the apartment are a little steep, though nothing to worry about. We stayed two nights during Saõ Miguel and had a great time. The owner was really nice, and the clean, cozy apartment is in a lovely spot in Alfama. You can walk to the city center and Santa Apolonia station.

It’s a compact place in a perfect location. Finding it was tricky when I arrived at 11.00pm on a Sunday, with a full-scale street party going on right outside. Things quieted down in less than an hour, and the next three nights were peaceful.

A quirky, very distinctive place, and a delight to stay in. Everyone was welcoming and fabulous. There’s a great restaurant downstairs run by the same owners, plus plenty of nearby spots for meals, coffee, pastries, and little shops.
