Casas de São Bento

We rented the three-bedroom apartment for our large group over New Year’s. It was gorgeous, comfortably fit everyone, and was beautifully furnished. The location felt safe and was very convenient. I’d book it again without hesitation if I return to Lisbon.

The hotel has a quiet, comfortable feel, with excellent staff and a great location near Praca do Comercio. There are lots of good restaurants close by. It’s an older historic building that’s been renovated, and there aren’t many amenities, but we only needed somewhere peaceful to rest.

We had a fantastic four-night stay in the three-bedroom apartment. It was spacious, warm, clean, and well equipped. The staff were attentive and really helpful, thank you Andreia and Laura! Getting around was easy, with transport nearby and many parts of the city walkable. There are also lovely places to eat close by. Highly recommend.

I arrived in Lisbon exhausted for an overnight layover and needed a proper night’s sleep before an early flight. That didn’t happen. My room was beside reception, with a guest kitchenette right outside, and I could hear everything through the walls: reception conversations, kitchen banging, and guests coming and going for water. At 1:04am I got dressed to ask two people talking loudly in reception to lower their voices. Someone also made tea at 4am. A small stereo on the shared wall played all night. I would have asked to move rooms, but nobody was at the desk overnight. The location and staff account for the two stars I first gave; the noise ruined the stay. Edit: I’m attaching my receipt in response to the owner saying there’s no record of my stay. João, I never said the snacking sounds went on all night. It’s strange to twist what I wrote to deny responsibility and make me look dishonest. Around 8pm I asked the woman at the front desk if she was on duty all night. She said she was waiting for someone to replace her. I asked if the desk was staffed 24 hours, and she said yes. It seems someone didn’t show up, and you’re trying to cover for that too. Because of all this, I’ve changed my rating to one star.
