Embaixador Apartments&Suites

The only thing missing when we arrived was a pen to fill in the city tax envelope. The hosts were friendly and always available, though they only answer in Portuguese. We could understand them. We were two kids and one adult, and the apartment was just the right size. It had everything we needed for a holiday, including a washing machine. The sofa bed was a good solution, comfy enough, and came with a blanket instead of a duvet. It can get a little noisy at night when other residents come home, but it didn't bother us much. We'll come back someday!

Apt 1 on the ground floor was clean, comfortable, and very functional for two people staying a week. The location is handy, just a three-minute walk to the station and close to the main sights in Belém. It's a lovely area, three quick train stops from central Lisbon and about 40 minutes the other way to Cascais.

I booked for three adults, but on arrival only one bed was made. The sofa converts into a bed, but it wasn't set up, and there was no spare bedding. If three people are booked in, there should be beds for three. The booking was clearly for three, since I had to provide everyone's passport details to get the check-in instructions. I couldn't reach the owner at any of the numbers provided. Each one said it couldn't connect. This isn't good enough. After my first review, the owner accused me of leaving the apartment dirty, breaking dishes, and smoking. I hadn't even checked out yet, so how would they know? I planned to video the apartment when leaving as evidence. There was no bedding on the sofa, and one guest had nowhere to sleep. The owner's reply was disgraceful. They should've been trying to resolve this, and I still couldn't reach them. They managed to answer the review within a couple of hours, but hadn't answered my email. At checkout, I still hadn't heard from the owner, except for their false complaint in the review reply. My adult son had to sleep on the sofa bed without bedding, using a bath towel as a cover, and slept very uncomfortably. The listing says there's a sofa bed as a second bed, but doesn't say it's possibly the most uncomfortable one imaginable. As others have said, this room is really only suitable for two people sharing the double bed. I also got two emails asking me to leave cash in an envelope for the city tax. That wasn't documented, and there'd be no proof the money was paid. The city tax was already included and paid in my original bill, which I have a record of. Given the owner's responses to other negative reviews, I'd suggest taking photos or video of the apartment's condition before and after your stay.

The apartments are furnished as shown in the pictures, but Apartment 1, where I stayed, had a lot of mold. I've attached images. From the dining table, you can hear all the water running through the upstairs neighbours' plumbing. The bedroom balcony door is poor quality, so even the slightest noise from the neighbours comes through easily. The host was the rudest guy I've ever dealt with. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, he told me, "be my guest to leave" because he'd already been paid in full. I stayed only one night out of the four and moved out early the next morning because it was too late to leave sooner. Don't be fooled by the reviews or consider staying there. Booking.com compensated me after I filed a case with evidence against this horrible host.
