Omid Boutique hotel

The location is nice, close to the center, but I can’t see what’s boutique about this hotel. It’s tiny and basic, with rooms so small there’s nowhere to open a suitcase. Service varied between pleasant and unfriendly. Breakfast was low quality and had no variety.

I called two days ahead to explain that my child was hospitalized nearby and that, after several sleepless nights at the hospital, we needed one night close by to rest. They said my 12-year-old son could stay with me while my husband remained at the hospital. We never intended to have more than two people in the room. We arrived exhausted and worried, but reception was cold. The receptionist called the owner, and they refused to host us and told us to leave, without showing any compassion. We only needed a few hours of rest, not a holiday, just a little humanity. After many years in Portugal, I’d never before felt such a lack of kindness and empathy. Heartbreaking and truly disappointing. Don’t go there.

The one problem was check-in. There was a language barrier, and the receptionists’ English wasn’t great. I got wrong information about where to buy the Lisboa card, and nobody gave me a map. The next day, another receptionist explained it much better and gave me a tourist map. Apart from that, the rooms were kept very clean, the breakfast staff were helpful, and the location was perfect, walkable to the main sights without being in an overly built-up area. Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with orange juice, coffee, tea, pancakes, pastries, croissants, bread, yogurt, fruit, preserves, and eggs made fresh however you wanted. The welcome box of tasty Pastel de Nata in the room was a nice touch, probably the best I had in Lisbon.

I wasn’t staying at the hotel, but I’d gotten lost and went in for help. A receptionist, I think her name was Valerie, got me a taxi and gave me directions. Thanks so much if you see this. The hotel staff are wonderful.
