ibis Lisboa Alfragide

At 3:30, a maid came into our room without knocking despite the Do Not Disturb sign, then left. Twenty minutes later someone knocked angrily. When we opened the door, he said, “YOU NEED TO LEAVE,” without greeting us. We explained we had paid for late checkout at 5pm, and he replied, “THEN YOU NEED TO PAY.” We said it was already paid for; he just said okay and walked off. No apology. We’d booked and paid directly through the hotel website for one night, our pet, and late checkout. We’re ALL Accor members. Our keycard stopped working after noon, so we had to ask reception to extend it. At 4:55, when we went to check out and pay €5 for one night of parking, the front desk still tried to charge us again for late checkout. Showing the confirmation email didn’t resolve it. I know the hotel is listed as two-star, but I can’t believe this is how Accor group hoteliers behave. The property is also under construction. I understand the GM manages several local properties and may not have been at this branch much, but I hope she sees why staff need Service Quality Management training to meet Accor’s values. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, with a continental spread that suited both business and leisure guests. The dining room felt welcoming and organized. Staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help with a smile, bringing a warm Portuguese hospitality to the stay. My September 23-24, 2025 visit to ibis Lisboa Alfragide was delightful. Although it’s officially a two-star hotel, the comfort, convenience, and hospitality felt like more. The modern rooms were clean and well kept, with comfortable beds, spotless bathrooms, and a cozy feel for a good night's rest. It’s in Lisbon, with connections to the city center, nearby areas, main roads, and transport. That makes it practical for enjoying the capital’s culture, history, and food. For its category, the hotel offers remarkable value and reliability, with a strategic location, comfortable rooms, and excellent service. A fantastic option for a short city break, business trip, or longer stay.

The buffet breakfast was fantastic. Staff were a mixed bag: some were friendly, while others were quite rude and made it clear they didn’t want to be there. I’d put up a Do Not Disturb sign because my room had confidential client records and I didn’t want to risk a GDPR breach. When I came back, they’d gone in and cleaned anyway, which bothered me.

The room was clean, but I couldn’t get comfortable enough to sleep well. It stayed above 23 degrees throughout my stay because the air conditioning was terrible. The room felt hot and stuffy, and there was no thin sheet, only a thick comforter. The pillows were so flat my head touched the mattress. Restful sleep was incredibly difficult. Service didn’t help. The receptionist at check-in seemed annoyed to assist us, with a harsh manner and expression. At the restaurant, we were carefully checking the menu because we don’t eat pork or seafood, both of which seem common in Portuguese dishes. The woman taking orders asked if we were ready; when we said we needed another moment, she rolled her eyes and looked annoyed. My sister called it out and her attitude shifted. There was nobody else there, so I don’t understand the rush. The meals were microwaved anyway, not cooked from scratch by her. It was an unpleasant stay. I don’t think I’ll choose an ibis Hotel again. If you want decent sleep and good customer service, look elsewhere.
