Hotel Lisboa

I chose this hotel partly because the gym was advertised, but only found out after check-in that its sole weight-lifting machine wasn’t working. Nobody mentioned this before I arrived. I asked reception about a partial refund for the two affected days, as I understood I was legally entitled to when an advertised facility is unavailable. I spoke to several staff members and was ignored until checkout, with no answer, explanation, follow-up, or resolution. I ended up paying €12 a day at a nearby commercial gym just to train, an extra expense caused by the lack of notice and compensation. The reception staff showed no concern when I raised what I considered a legitimate issue or asked about my rights. The rooms and location don’t make up for the misleading information and poor communication. I wouldn’t stay here again.

There are lots of good places to eat just minutes away. We especially liked Chu Chu Restaurant, Jezzus Bakery, and Lobelia, a cozy local café and family restaurant. Breakfast had plenty of choice, and both café staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and had the basics, including a hairdryer and electric kettle. The Wi-Fi gave us some trouble, and the bathroom wasn’t very practical, with little room for toiletries and nowhere to hang towels or clothes.

We had a lovely stay. The rooms were clean and warm, breakfast was lovely, and the staff were helpful and friendly. There are local restaurants nearby, and it’s easy to get around the city on foot or by metro. I’d recommend the hotel.

The location is perfect, and I’d book here again. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were very clean. Breakfast was really good for what we paid, with lots of choices and some dishes changing each day so it didn’t get repetitive. A few things could be better. The bathroom had little counter space, and the mirror light wasn’t bright enough. My female travel companion found the lighting especially inadequate. The glass screen on the bathtub shower was awkward if you’re over 180 cm, since you have to be careful not to splash water all over the bathroom. Also, for some reason, the sockets failed to charge my phone quickly about 10% of the time.
