Lisbon Alfama Charming Apartment

Construction workers were right outside the bedrooms, less than two metres away, where they could look directly in from the neighboring building. They chatted and shouted from 7 a.m., then the jackhammers and chisels started at 8. When we asked to move, the only suggestions were places in Cascais or Sintra, which didn’t work for us. The apartment seemed fairly new, but the floor was already swelling and the shower seal was coming loose. There was also laundry left in the washing machine by previous guests, which suggested the cleaning staff hadn’t checked it. The key pickup was a mess too. We had to make a WhatsApp call to get the codes and key, but the woman didn’t know which floor we were on. I waited half an hour outside the wrong door by the key box. When I asked if someone could come help, she said no one was available and told me to try the code again. Only later did she realize we were meant to be on the 3rd floor, not the 4th. This review is about the apartments at R. Afonso de Albuquerque 32, 1100-135 Lisbon, Portugal.

Most of Lisbon’s tourist attractions are within walking distance, since the apartment is right in the city centre.

It’s an affordable apartment in a good location on the fourth floor. There’s no AC, and one of the bedrooms has no window.
